Basque Country Arts Agenda for August 2015

Regarding traditions and festivities:
  • In Baiona, Festivals of Bayonne. Basque French version of the San Fermin Festivals, with bullfighting, running of the bulls and much more. From July, 29th to August, 2nd.
  • In Azpeitia, Biscay & Gipuzkoa. St Ignatius Loiola. In Azpeitia local music, food, drink and festivals. From July, 30th to August, 2nd.
  • In Vitoria, La Blanca city Festivals. Celedon will come down from San Miguel Church to start the festivals of the Basque Capital. From August, 4th to 9th. 
  • In San Sebastian , Semana Grande Festivals. Popular party with famous fireworks in Concha beach. From August, 8th to 15th. 
  • In Bilbao, Semana Grande Festivals. One of the most popular parties in the Basque Country. From August, 22nd  to 30th.  
  • In Uharte-Arakil. The Basque Shepherd festival, to honour and discover this old way of life. On August, 30th
Regarding arts and exhibits:

  • In Getaria, "The art of Balenciaga" exhibit til August, 31st 
  • In Bilbao, Exhibit “The 50's. Fashion in France 1947-1957”. Museo de Bellas Artes. Pieces of Christian Dior, Cristobal Balenciaga, Jean Desses, Madeleine Vramant & Lola Prusac. Until August 31st.
  • In Bilbao, Exhibit “Jeff Koons Retrospective". Guggenheim Bilbao Museum. Until September 27th.
  • In Tolosa, Gipuzkoa, a water puppets exhibit in The Puppet Museum 
  • In Bilbao, "Parallax" Video Art by Shahzia Sikander. Until November 22nd.
  • In San Sebastian, cod fish Basque fishermen history exhibit, in the Navy Museum, until November, 29th 
Regarding music:

  • In Pamplona. Flamenco On Fire. 2nd Pamplona Flamenco Festival. Baluarte from August 23rd to 28th.
Regarding sport:

  • In Biarritz, Jai Alai Basque traditional sport competition. On August 3rd, 5th, 10th, 12th, 17th & 19th.
