• In Mundaka. Saint Pedro parties. Famous processions of San Pedro, the Aurresku, the pipers, the big heads or the maritime kukaña. The big day is June 29^th, although the celebrations run from June 20^th to July 5^th.
• In Tolosa, Eibar, Arrasate, Hernani, Andoain, Laguardia, Amurrio, Salvatierra, Leioa, Getxo, Bermeo, Muskiz, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz,…. St. John Pilgrimage's. The arrival of the summer solstice is celebrated. The bonfires burn to drive away evil spirits and attract good luck. June 23^rd.

• In Bermeo. St. John Pilgrimage's. Pilgrimage on foot to the hermitage of San Juan de Gastelugatxe and wreath to the Virgin (submerged in the sea under the natural arches of the islet of Aketze). June 24^th.
• In Ondarroa. Shoe Azule (Blue Saturday). Most important party in the city. T-shirts, sports and music are the main ingredients. June 26^th.
• In Haro, La Rioja. Battle of wine. Fiesta of National Tourist Interest. Pilgrimage to the hermitage of Los Riscos de Bilibio. June 29^th.
• In Lekeitio. Saint Pedro parties. The dance of the Kaxarranka (a dantzari dances on a chest or kutxa carried by eight fishermen), the Kilin-Kala (consists in the risk of throwing the image of the Saint into the water, to ask for good fishing) and the aurresku (basque tipical dance) of women. From June 29^th to July 1^st.
• In Irun. Saint Marcial Alarde (Procession). Parade remembering Spanish and French wars. June, 30^th.

• In Bilbao. ABC: The alphabet of the Bilbao Museum. Exhibition for its 110 years of inauguration. Museum of Fine Arts. From October 6th, 2018 until December 30th, 2021.
• In Vitoria-Gasteiz. "Windows to the Basque art collection" between the years 1850-1950. Artists who introduced the new artistic languages -impressionism, symbolism or Fauvism- in the Basque Country, after passing through Paris and other European capitals. Museum of Fine Arts of Álava. • In Vitoria-Gasteiz. "Ignacio Figueroa, Marquis of Villamejor". A portrait by Joaquín Bárbara y Balza: life and work of an artista recovered [1867–1931]. Museum of Fine Arts of Álava. From September 25th, 2020 until September 12th.
• In Bilbao. Bilbao and the Painting. A perspective of painting in Bilbao on the 19th Century when Bilbao was one of the most important cities in Spain through a set of artist which incorporated French Impressionism and other avant-garde art currents. • In San Sebastian. Seeing Auschwitz. After presenting the award-winning “Auschwitz. Not a long time ago. Not far” produced together with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial, the San Sebastian company “Musealia” returns to the concentration camp with a new exhibition: Seeing Auschwitz. The exhibition challenges us to observe with a critical eye the imagery related to Auschwitz, based on a relatively small number of photographs, mostly taken by the Nazi soldiers themselves, and explore details in those images that have gone unnoticed to us before. • In Vitoria-Gasteiz. Juncal Ballestín. Life as an exercise. A selection of best pieces of Juncal Ballestin. Ballestín's work is characterized by the plurality of materials, media and techniques used: painting, drawing, installation, video, graphic work... all of them structured in series such as the one entitled Painting. • In Azpeitia. Travel on the steam train. The Basque Railway Museum presents one of the best railway collections in Europe, with locomotives of all kinds, wagons, clocks as well as perfectly restored and in-use historical electrical installations. From March 31th until November 1st.

Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum. Getaria

• In Getaria. Exhibition “Alaïa & Balenciaga. Sculptors of the form”. More than 100 works by both creators - Azzedine Alaïa (1935-2017) and Cristóbal Balenciaga (1895-1972) - belonging to the collections of the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation in Paris. Tenth anniversary of the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum. • In Bilbao. Los locos años 20. Exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in which the artistic director of the Arriaga Theater, Calixto Bieito, participates as a designer. And in the theater you can see a program for two months that will evoke that time of effervescence and creative freedom. From May 7th to September 19th.

• In Bilbao. Agustín Ibarrola exhibition, Naturalki. Tribute to his 90th birthday. The exhibition focuses on the fundamental relationship established between art and nature in the author's work. Rekalde Room. Until July 4th.
• In Bilbao. Muntadas. The empty city. An audiovisual piece commissioned by the museum, in which the Catalan artist invites us to look at the city from a different point of view. Showing Bilbao, its current urban planning and its historical context, are the starting point for a broader investigation of public space and architecture. Until September 5th.
• In Bilbao. Zura eta Ura. Photo exhibition that invites to think about the loss of identity in the fishermen ports after the progressive substitution of wooden boats by boats made of synthetic materials. Maritime Museum. Until September 26th.

• In Saint Jean de Luz. World Cycling Day: From Sainte-Barbe to Socoa: By bicycle. June 3rd.

• In Moreda de Alava. IX Olive Oil Fair of Alava. Great opportunity to get to know the world of olive trees and olive oil in the area. Agricultural and food fair. March 21st .
• Laudio - Llodio, Alava - Araba, The Traditional "Friday of Sorrows". A festival originally granted by the Christian Catholic Church to the locals to enjoy meat during Easter. • In Vitoria-Gasteiz. XXI Transparent agricultural market. Sale of direct products from farms in Alava. Starring: Álava's potato. Tasting of seasonal products, demonstration of product development and children's workshops. March 28th.
• In Durango. Durango Ardo Saltsan: Wine and Delicatessen Fair. Eno-gastronomic fair with dozens of wineries from different countries. Posts with delicatessen products, defined by their high quality with Iberian ham, oil, salmon and smoked bonito, Iberian tomato, cheese, anchovies, and coffee. March 28th
• In Bilbao. Basque Fest. Exhibitions of art, dance and street theater, children's entertainment, craft fairs, concerts, samples of Basque design and traditional sports exhibitions. From March 28th until April 1st. CANCELLED

Easter is celebrated all over the Basque Country from March 28th until April 4th this year, and these are the best places to see something different in your visit: 
Segura (Gipuzkoa) and Balmaseda (9th and 10th). These have famous living performance by locals representing the last days of Jesus Christ life from the 1600s.
    • Bilbao and Vitoria and other smaller towns have traditional parades which take out of the churches images and march in an old traditional penitent dressing (dressing that some foreigners wrongly confused by some foreigners with Ku Klux Clan costumes).
    • Hondarribia. Religious processions dating back to the begining of the 1600s. 
    • Laudio - Llodio, Alava - Araba, The Traditional "Friday of Sorrows". A festival originally granted by the Christian Catholic Church to the locals to enjoy meat during Easter. Nowadays a lively market to see Basque farmers showing best of their horses, goats, sheeps, cattle, etc. Exhibit of Basque Traditional Sport of stone pulling by oxes. 
    • Bergara. Ramos Saturday Fair. On the eve of Palm Sunday, the city of Bergara organizes a cattle and agricultural fair. It is preceded by a bertsolaris festival on Friday night.

Not far” produced together with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial, the San Sebastian company “Musealia” returns to the concentration camp with a new exhibition: Seeing Auschwitz. The exhibition challenges us to observe with a critical eye the imagery related to Auschwitz, based on a relatively small number of photographs, mostly taken by the Nazi soldiers themselves, and explore details in those images that have gone unnoticed to us before. • In Laguardia. Articulated Nativity Scene. Church of Santa María de los Reyes. One of the few baroque nativity scenes equipped with movement that are preserved today, and arouses great interest among visitors and residents of the area. • In Rivabellosa. Truffle Fair. V Fair of truffles and artisan products related to it. Live cooking and contests. February 2nd.
• In Astigarraga, Hernani, Usurbil y Urnieta. Season of the Basque Cider. The main area in the Basque Country is in Astigarraga (near San Sebastián). There are some 51 Basque cider houses in Guipúzcoa, 10 in Vizcaya and 2 in Alava. The cider season begins on February 5th until May 23rd.
• In Agurain-Salvatierra, Campezo-Kanpezu, Lantarón, Laudio-Llodio, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Zalduondo. Carnival in the province of Álava. From January 30th to February 21st.
• In San Sebastian, Anoeta, Astigarraga, Irun or Tolosa. The party of the caldereros boilermakers. Several groups emulate the Hungarian Zingaros who arrived in the city to sell their products during the Carnivals. It is a peculiar way of announcing carnivals. February 1st. Cancelled
• In Laudio/Llodio. San Blas Festival. Exhibition and sale of agricultural and artisan products, rural sports, elaboration of blood sausages, dance and music shows, a tribute to the baserritarras of the area, tasting of chestnuts, burning and scraping the pig, ... and Txarripatas Gastronomic Contest (pig hands). From Febuary 3rd.
• In Abadiño. Fair of San Blas. Fair for crafts, livestock, machinery, nurserymen and oxen testing. Exhibition and sale of farmhouse products. Awards for the best agricultural and livestock production. Special activities for children, Basque sports, bertsolaris shows (sudden poets) and exhibitions of dragging stones with oxen are organized. February 3rd.
• In Kastrexana (Barakaldo). Pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Santa Águeda. It is the patron of women and fertility. The main pilgrimage on February 5th, and two others: one the previous Sunday and another the following Sunday. On February 4th, choirs and gangs roam the streets singing in honor of the Holy and accompany their songs with rods and sticks ("makilas") with which the ground is beaten rhythmically. Cancelled.
• In Vitoria-Gasteiz. Feast of Saint Agatha. Traditional rounds singing couplets in honor of the martyrdom and death of the saint in the neighborhoods, accompanied by the sounds produced by rods and canes that hit the ground to the rhythm of the couplet. February 4th and 5th.
• In Markina-Xemein. Fair of trees, plants and tools of the farmhouse. February 8th.
• In Tolosa. Tree Day. XXV edition. Exhibition and sale of trees and plants. February 8th.
• In Lapuebla de Labarca. Uztaberri Eguna. Presentation of the new harvest. Guided visits to wineries. Exhibition and tasting of products related to wine. Work from before and now in the vineyard. February 8th.
• In Mundaka. Carnivals: Aratuste. The most important carnival in Bizkaia, since 1841. In the morning the men come out in their white dresses like atorrak, and in the afternoon the women like lamiak. • In Biscay. Carnival Celebrations: Bilbao, Mundaka and Markina-Xemein.  Concerts, dance shows, tastings and various competitions, various activities… From February 11th until 16th.
• In Bilbao. Carnivals. Special: the trial of Farolín and Zarambolas (distinctions that are awarded to popular figures from our environment), who represent the bragging and goodness of Bilbao, respectively. From February 11th until 16th
• In Alava. Carnival Celebrations: Vitoria-Gasteiz, Santa Cruz de Campezo, Zalduondo, Agurain, Salcedo and Laudio. From February 13th until 16th.
• In Zalduondo. Carnivals. Some of the oldest in Álava, they are very popular. The quirky Markitos doll is paraded around the town on Carnival Sunday along with other carnival characters. From February 11th until 16th
• In Gipuzcoa. Carnival Celebrations: San Sebastián, Azpeitia, Antzuola, Amezketa, Abaltzisketa and Aretxabaleta. From February 11th until 16th.
• In Tolosa. Carnival.The most multitudinous and popular carnivals of the Basque Country. From February 11th until 16th. Cancelled.
• In San Sebastian. Carnivals Do not miss the troupes (Boilermakers, Barnacles, Gardeners, Roosters ...), which pay tribute to the central character of the party, the God Momo. From February 11th until 16th.
• In Abaltzisketa and Amezketa. Carnival: Txantxok. A group of young people goes through all the villages in the town, dancing a simple stick dance. February 14th.
• In Mungia. Livestock fair: bovine, wool, horse and goat. Agricultural machinery and tools. Exhibition and sale of farmhouse products. February 16th.
• In Getaria. Festivities of San Antón. From February 15th to 17th.
• In Elgoibar. Festivities of San Antón. From February 15th to 23rd.
• In Segura. Easter week. Since the first decade of the seventeenth century. Processions are solemnly celebrated on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. From February 28th to April 5th.

Regarding Basque sport:

• In Getxo. XIV Punta Galea Challenge is one of 7 that form part of the prestigious Big Wave Tour, and the only one held in Europe. One day between November 1st, 2019 until and March 31, 2020. Cancelled.
