Mondays in Museums XIV - Liquor Museum

On your tour from Bilbao to Vitoria or to Rioja there is a nice stop in the north of the Basque province of Alava.

Amurrio hosts from 1831 one distillery devoted to local brands, such as Sierra de Orduña Patxaran (note that Patxaran is a sweet Basque alcoholic drink made with blueberries and anisette).

It is a small museum specialized on the way of production of liquors displaying bottles and devices used during the last 2 centuries for production of alcoholic drinks.

It is perfect to see production of different drink appart from the world famous wines of Rioja and the Txakoli wines and tells you about another hidden aspect in the Basque Country.
