Mondays in Museums VII - Natural Sciences Museum in Vitoria

This museum is a hidden gem in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

The collection of this museum covers the present fauna and flora in the province, a set of fossils of the Mesozoic tropical sea that covers the province in that era, the biggest collection of minerals hosts in a public museum in Spain and last, but not least a big ambar set of the province deposit of Peñacerrada. This deposit is acknowledged as one of the most important collection of pieces of Cretaceous (100,000 years ago), and it is very important for the study of the flora and fauna of those days (specially for the insects captured).

But appart from the interesting collection it hosts, it should be also seen the incredible building where it is located: in a tower from 15th Century and surrounded by buildings of 17th and 18th Centuries.
